VPD assisted Richmond RCMP with an arrest in South Vancouver following a home invasion.

Late on Friday, May 12, more than a dozen VPD officers arrested six suspects in South Vancouver after they reportedly evaded police in a vehicle. VPD say they recovered two firearms from the car.

The incident was just one in a very busy weekend for Vancouver police, but Sgt. Steve Addison tells V.I.A. that "the South Vancouver arrest relates to a home invasion that occurred in Richmond earlier in the night."

Shortly after 11:30 p.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a residence in the 10000-block Blundell Road after reports of multiple suspects allegedly forcing their way into a home and assaulting two occupants in their twenties. The pair was taken to hospital by ambulance and treated for injuries.

RCMP says the suspects fled in a light-coloured Honda sedan before police arrived and a coordinated search began.

The six suspects arrested in Vancouver have been identified as four adults and two youths, who all hail from different cities in the Lower Mainland.

Police say they believe this was a targeted incident and the Honda is currently undergoing forensics.

The investigation, conducted by Richmond RCMP, is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact 604-278-1212 and quote file #2023-14495.
